Lake Alūksne
It is the eleventh largest lake in Latvia (15,7 km²), situated 183.7 metres above the sea level. There are four islands in the lake – Cepurīte (Hat Island), Garā (Long Island), Tīklu (Net Island) and Pilssala (Castle Island) which is the biggest one. The peninsula separates the the bay of the lake from its basic part.
The unique buildings along the shore of the bay are rows of two-story boathouses with the boat garages on the ground floor.
The lake is rich in more than 12 fish species. Remember- fishing requires fishing licenses, which can be purchased:

In the summer season, Lake Alūksne turns into a real resort place. It is possible to rent rowing boats, paddle boats, SUP boards or ejoy the speed by motorboat.
Lake Aluksne is managed by the Municipality Agency “ALJA”.
