Charm of Alūksne Lake

Aluksne fascinates the city’s guests with its cultural heritage, landscapes, and hospitality, and of course, the majestic Lake Aluksne, which is the 11th largest lake in Latvia, rich with more than 12 fish species, special with picturesque landscape, fabulous stories, and four islands – Cepurīte (Hat island), Garā (Long island), Tīklu saliņa (Net island) and the largest Castle Island.

In Alūksne, it is quite easy to jump from the city into nature, spreading the charm of Alūksne Lake by swimming and going on trips by boats, catamarans, and for speed lovers – by the cutter. Breathtaking emotions in a bird’s flight over the lake waters will be felt on the “Zzzippp” zipline. Enjoy unforgettable moments on the water by the raft “Kaija” and Kuģītis “Marienburg”. For lovers of romance, we recommend going on sunset trips and walks along the Alūksne Castle Island promenade.

The musical pedestrian bridge on Tempļakalna street plays wonderful melodies every hour for the first 15 minutes. And in the evening it’s even more romantic because the bridge is enlightened and the lighting playing with the waves of the lake, creates a special walking pleasure for everyone.

Crossing the bridge, you can see the illuminated Rotunda in the Temple Mount. Climb higher, take a breath and enjoy the beauty of Lake Alūksne!
