World Malenian festival

A large gathering of Malenians takes place only once every four years. The event is a real quadrennial, all Malenians from near and far are cordially invited to the celebration, and anyone who wants to get to know the Malenians better and learn their true wisdom of life.

All day long in the territory of the Jaunlaicene Manor there are various events and activities worthy of the humor of the people of Malenia, theaters and concerts, in which the dances characteristic of this side are performed. At the craftsman’s market, you can buy various goodies typical of the Malenian people. During the holidays, there is always an opportunity to taste the traditional honor food– profitroļi broth soup. The stories say that Malenian people have always done everything their own way and that the dances, were also unique to them – with steps and music characteristic of the border, which were formed under the influence of the traditional culture of Latgale, Estonia and Russia. The celebration always ends with a proper dance in the green ball. 

Malenians are creative, inquisitive, with a unique sense of humor, that’s why they are happy to talk about their adventures – they know how to be happy about small things and they like that others are happy too.
