Fountains
In the very heart of Alūksne, everyone is delighted by the magnificent and superior fountains. They are greeted by Lake Alūksne and its shore, on both sides of the New Castle in Alūksne and the adjacent Manor Park, where two fountains-Th Round and Oval ones- had already been installed, during the reign of Baron von Vietinghoff. It is significant, that Alūksne Manor Park is rich in small architectural forms – Alexander Pavilion, Bird Pavilion, Aeolian Temple, Pomona Temple, Granite Obelisk, Granite Benches and Mausoleum of Vietinghoff family.
The water of the fountain creates a particularly romantic mood, alternating with the interplay of colors in the evening. They shine brilliantly in the ensemble with other illuminated objects of Illuminated Alūksne – the Temple of Glory in Temple Hill, the Livonian Order Castle South Tower, The Pedestrian Bridge in Tempļakalns Street, Alūksne New Castle and Alūksne Evangelical Lutheran Church.
During this time, Alūksne is as beautiful as it is during the day, but much more mysterious.
The technical author of the fountains has been Alvits Grīvnieks from Alūksne for several decades.
