Pub "Katrīnkrogs"
The first buildings of Marienburg (now Alūksne) were built on this side of the lake. Therefore, the pubs in this place have been there before. “Katrīnkrogs” is located nerby the Lake Alūksne and the former road, that connected the strategically important city of Marienburg with St. Petersburg.
The interior of the cafe is designed in accordance with the 17th century because during this time Peter I’s wife Catherine I (1684.-1727.) grew up in Marienburg accompanied by her foster father Ernst Glück. Did you know that Peter I and Catherine I had 9 children? You will learn these and other historical facts – in “Katrīnkrogs”, from whose wide windows you will see the two most beautiful islands, surrounded by legends and stories- “Cepurīte” (Hat Island) and Garā Island.
Recreation center “Jaunsētas” offers delicious meals in “Katrīnkrogs” and an overnight stay in a guest house, camping house, or hotel.
At the moment, “Katrínkrogs” is only available for celebratory feasts – for groups over 15 persons, upon prior application.
