Original Narrow-gauge Railway between Gulbene & Alūksne
Gulbene – Alūksne Bānītis is the only regularly running narrow gauge train in the Baltics. It makes two daily trips in each direction, according to the schedule. Everyone, who wants to travel with Bānītis will have the opportunity to enjoy the untouched nature of Vidzeme at any time of the year. Blooming spring flowers which adorn along the Bānītis track or the autumn valleys of autumn birch and maple trees will brighten your feelings!
A diesel locomotive is used for daily trips, but twice a month (during the summer season) The Steam Locomotive “Ferdinands”. stops at Alūksne station. Current steam locomotive timetable: here.
During the winter months, the wagons are heated. Original Narrow-gauge Railway between Gulbene & Alūksne services are also available for people with special needs – Bānītis employees will always be ready to help. Also, if you are an active cyclist looking for adventure, then Bānītis will definitely have a place for your bike.
Tickets can be purchased on the train at the conductor during the trip. The trip is free for pre-school children.
