Lake Trail in Alūksne

“Ezertaka” is 2.8 km long walking trail that winds around the peninsula of Lake Alūksne. From the trail, walkers can enjoy stunning lakeside scenery and views of two islands steeped in legend and folklore—Cepurīte and Garā Sala—as well as the lake’s largest island- Castle Island (Pilssala). Although located very close to the town center, the trail offers a chance to experience the unique tranquility of nature, leading along the steep lakeshore through wooded ravines and over rolling hills. We highly recommend this walk to those who appreciate varied terrain and beautiful, unspoiled natural landscapes.
The trail is circular and can be walked in either direction; the car park near the Tempļakalna Street pedestrian bridge or Parking near the swimming “Melnums” area can serve as the starting point. It is not suitable for walking in poor weather condition.
